Requirements for active residence in Andorra

Active residence as an employee

What you need to obtain active residency in Andorra as an employee:

  • Obtain an employment contract with an Andorran company.
  • Establish your tax domicile in Andorra.
  • Stay a minimum of 183 days in Andorra.
  • Certificate accrediting rental or purchase of a property in Andorra where you can establish your permanent domicile.
  • Criminal record certificate.
  • Pass  a satisfactory medical check-up at the Andorran Immigration Department.

This permit to live in Andorra is valid for one year, which can be renewed later.

Self-employed residency

What you need to obtain active residency in Andorra for self-employment:

  • Be self-employed.
  • Hold more than 34% of an Andorran company and act as its director .
  • Establish your domicile in Andorra.
  • Stay a minimum of 183 days in Andorra.
  • Certificate accrediting rental or purchase of a property in Andorra where you can establish your permanent domicile.
  • Criminal record certificate.
  • Contribute to the Andorran Social Security.
  • Carry out a  satisfactory medical check-up before the Andorran Immigration Department.
  • Prove, within three months, that the company is the owner of a commercial activity duly registered in Andorra.
  • Make a deposit of €50,000 to the AFA – Andorran Financial Authority (which will be returned if you leave the country) at the time of applying for a residence permit, with the exception of those companies whose purpose is to promote the digital economy or innovation in the Principality of Andorra.

These two types of self-employed active residency are valid for one year, which can be renewed later.
